Assistant Underwriter – Commercial Lines (Transportation & Trucking)
Job Summary
Seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Underwriter to join a Commercial Lines team specializing in Transportation and Trucking. The successful candidate will assist with risk analysis, quoting, and policy issuance for middle-market to large fleet accounts. Responsibilities
- Review Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs), loss runs, CSA scores, safety programs, and telematics data.
- Evaluate risks using carrier guidelines and apply credits for safety measures such as ELDs and dash cams.
- Prepare quotes, binders, endorsements, and certificates of insurance.
- Ensure compliance with FMCSA and state regulations, including BMC-91 filings.
- Collaborate with account managers on renewals, marketing strategies, and loss control initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records and document decisions in AMS360.
- Provide exceptional support to account managers and clients.
Qualifications/Requirements
- 1–3 years of experience in Property & Casualty insurance, with a preference for underwriting support experience.
- Strong knowledge of trucking insurance coverages, including Auto Liability (AL), Physical Damage (PD), Motor Truck Cargo (MTC), and Trailer Interchange.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and AMS360 software.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Progress toward CPCU or AU designations is a plus.
