Assistant Vice President, Commercial Casualty Claims

Seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Commercial Casualty Claims to lead and oversee the strategic and operational management of general liability claims, including complex bodily injury, property damage, premises liability, and litigation matters. This leadership role is ideal for someone with deep technical knowledge, a strong leadership background, and a track record of driving results in a claims environment.

- $165,000 to $185,000+/year total compensation (based on experience)

Job Description
- Provide executive-level oversight of general liability claims operations, ensuring timely, accurate, and cost-effective resolution of claims
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of examiners, supervisors, and managers
- Implement and monitor best practices for claims handling, litigation management, and customer service
- Develop and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure departmental goals are met or exceeded
- Oversee complex and high-exposure claims, including large loss reviews and settlement strategies
- Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, legal, and senior leadership to align claims strategy with corporate objectives
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements
- Participate in audits, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- 10+ years of general liability claims experience, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership or executive role
- Proven expertise in handling high-severity general liability claims, including premises liability, bodily injury, and litigated matters
- Experience managing multi-jurisdictional claims and working with TPAs or internal claim teams
- Strong leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities
- Juris Doctor (JD) required
