Job Title: Claims Consultant - General Liability & Excess Coverage
Job Summary:
The Claims Consultant will be responsible for managing and resolving complex General Liability (GL), Excess GL, and Professional Liability claims. This role requires a highly analytical individual with strong decision-making, negotiation, and communication skills. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of insurance law, coverage analysis, and the claims resolution process, with a focus on ensuring compliance and timely, cost-effective outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze and resolve General Liability, Excess GL, and Professional Liability claims by gathering detailed information, evaluating coverage and exposure, and developing strategies for resolution.
- Assess liability and damages, reviewing pleadings, medical records, reserves, and negotiating toward resolution.
- Coordinate vendor activities, including litigation management and field investigations, ensuring alignment with claim strategy and timelines.
- Provide guidance and recommendations on coverage positions, case strategy, and negotiations, maintaining communication with insureds, attorneys, brokers, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain clear, accurate, and complete documentation in claims management systems, ensuring compliance with internal guidelines.
- Ensure adherence to state licensing requirements and continuing education for regulatory compliance.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required; JD preferred.
- 5+ years of experience handling complex liability claims.
- Strong decision-making, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- In-depth knowledge of insurance law, including AI, CGL, AINS, and CPCU (preferred but not required).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and claims management systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Carrier background preferred, but TPA experience will be considered.
Compensation Package:
- Salary: $120K - $130K (based on experience).
