Lead Capital Actuary

Job Summary

Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Capital Actuary to join a Shared Services team. The primary responsibility of this role is to lead the regulatory and rating agency capital models and support the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) in all aspects of capital management strategy. This position requires active collaboration and regular communication with key stakeholders across finance, actuarial, ceded, risk management, and other functions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine the capital, liquidity, and dividend strategy in collaboration with the CRO, CFO, and CEO.
  • Build and maintain a real-time view of the capital position and forecasted view aligned with business plans.
  • Design and implement a framework to maximize capital efficiency and fungibility across the organization.
  • Embed capital metrics and modeling into strategic management decision-making.
  • Lead the development of a model to support portfolio optimization and underwriting strategy.
  • Provide timely and accurate capital metrics to senior management, regulatory bodies, and rating agencies.
  • Improve model governance, including documentation and processes.
  • Produce a quarterly capital dashboard to provide a clear view of the group’s solvency position across regulatory and rating agency models.
  • Collaborate with the CRO and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function to support risk management activities, including stress and scenario modeling for the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA).
  • Manage end-to-end projects and build processes to shape developing initiatives.
  • Mentor and develop team members while effectively influencing and communicating with stakeholders.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Finance, or a related field.
  • Qualified actuary with 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in leading or working on all areas of a capital function, including modeling, analysis, and communicating results.
  • Knowledge of factor-based models, particularly US RBC and BCAR.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • High degree of numeracy with the ability to analyze data and make sound expert judgments.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work with limited resources to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate positions and obtain buy-in from various functions.
