Compensation Package
- Base Salary: $160,000 - $220,000
- Bonus: 20% Target Bonus
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute underwriting strategies aligned with company goals, adapting to market conditions and emerging risks.
- Portfolio Profitability: Monitor underwriting performance, including rate adequacy, reserve adequacy, and pricing program profitability.
- Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of three direct reports, focusing on talent development, performance management, and succession planning.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Actuarial, Data & Analytics, Claims, Risk Services, and Compliance teams to address governance and technical capabilities.
- Broker & Agent Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with agents to gain market insights and identify new business opportunities.
- Governance & Audit: Ensure compliance with underwriting authority delegations, audit criteria, and catastrophe management practices.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee placing and binding of FAC Reinsurance, implement underwriting guidelines, and monitor workflow effectiveness.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize data analytics to assess performance, recommend improvements, and support change management initiatives.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a liaison between underwriting and other business areas, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of P&C commercial underwriting experience.
- 5 to 10 years of progressive leadership and management experience.
- Proven track record in leading underwriting teams, managing portfolio profitability, and developing underwriting strategies.
- Certifications: Industry designations such as CPCU, ARM, AFIS, or AINS are highly preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning, operational execution, and leading change initiatives.
- Ability to influence organizational outcomes and drive continuous improvement.
- Travel: Willingness to travel 15-25% of the time.
