Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced AVP, Claims Relationship Manager to join its National Accounts Casualty team. This is a highly visible, client-facing leadership role responsible for serving as the strategic claims partner for a portfolio of large commercial accounts.

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Workers' Compensation, Auto Liability, and General Liability claims, along with experience managing claims handled by Third-Party Administrators (TPAs). This individual will oversee claim performance, provide technical guidance, collaborate with internal business partners, and build strong relationships with insureds, brokers, reinsurers, and TPAs to ensure exceptional claims service and optimal claim outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent industry experience.
  • 10-15 years of commercial casualty claims experience with significant exposure to:
    • Workers' Compensation
    • Auto Liability
    • General Liability
    • Product Liability
    • Professional Liability
  • Extensive experience managing claims for high deductible and self-insured retention (SIR) programs.
  • Strong understanding of Third-Party Administrator (TPA) oversight and performance management.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of leadership experience managing claims professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-severity and complex casualty claims.
  • Strong knowledge of multiple state jurisdictions and applicable claim regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Experience collaborating with executive leadership, brokers, reinsurers, and large commercial insureds.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25%.

Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as the primary claims contact and trusted advisor for assigned National Accounts.
  2. Build and maintain strong relationships with insureds, brokers, TPAs, underwriting, risk management, and other key stakeholders.
  3. Provide technical oversight for Workers' Compensation, Auto Liability, and General Liability claims administered by Third-Party Administrators.
  4. Monitor claim handling quality, reserving practices, litigation management, and overall claim performance.
  5. Lead, mentor, and develop Claims professionals while fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture.
  6. Manage employee performance, coaching, succession planning, and professional development.
  7. Partner closely with Underwriting, Actuarial, Risk Management, Legal, Finance, and Executive Leadership.
  8. Analyze portfolio performance, emerging claim trends, and legal developments affecting National Accounts.
  9. Support strategic initiatives designed to strengthen the overall claims operation.
