Claims Attorney

Compensation Package
- Salary Range: $90,000 - $140,000 (commensurate with experience)

Responsibilities
- Investigate, analyze, and determine the extent of liability and exposure for personal, casualty, property loss, and general damages.
- Analyze property and casualty insurance policies to assess liability, coverage, and other relevant issues.
- Stay updated on legal decisions, statutes, and regulations impacting claims and coverage matters.
- Conduct interviews with insureds, agents, medical specialists, witnesses, and claimants to gather information.
- Review police and investigative reports to determine liability and other pertinent issues.
- Analyze medical records, reports, and bills to assess causality, damages, and accuracy.
- Retain and manage subject matter experts to assist in coverage, liability, and damages evaluations.
- Negotiate claim settlements and recommend actions when settlements cannot be reached.
- Retain and manage outside counsel and oversee litigation claims.
- Maintain accurate claims diaries and appropriate claims reserves.
- Provide timely and accurate communication to insureds, the company, and other stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
Education
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.
Experience
- Minimum of 1+ years of litigation experience preferred, including witness depositions, expert depositions, written discovery, and arbitration/mediation.
- Experience in Excess & Surplus (E&S) and Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance is preferred.
Certifications and Licensure
- Property and Casualty Adjuster License (must be obtained within six months of hire).
- Member in good standing of the bar in at least one state.
Preferred Certifications
- ARM, CPCU, AIC, CIC, CRM, or other advanced insurance certifications.
