Senior Production Underwriter (Remote - Eastern PA)

Job Summary

Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Production Underwriter to join a team in a remote capacity. This is a multi-line, multi-industry opportunity where you will play a pivotal role in underwriting middle-market business, managing accounts, and fostering strong relationships with agency partners. You will be responsible for executing underwriting strategies to achieve profit and premium goals, managing a renewal book, and mentoring team members. Compensation Package

  • Salary Range: $105,000 - $150,000 annually + annual incentive bonus

Responsibilities

  • Underwriting:

    • Profitably underwrite complex new and renewal business through risk selection, pricing, and account management.
    • Assess risks, identify exposures and controls, and set appropriate terms and conditions to ensure a profitable portfolio.
    • Document underwriting decisions and serve as a subject matter expert for complex risks.
  • Portfolio Management:

    • Achieve profit and premium goals through effective portfolio management.
    • Conduct marketing activities, including in-person and virtual sales calls with agencies and insureds.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with producers and agencies.
  • Collaboration and Representation:

    • Represent the company in the marketplace, showcasing capabilities in underwriting, risk control, and claims.
    • Collaborate with internal teams, including Business Unit and Line of Business underwriting, Sales and Distribution, Risk Control, Legal, and Claims.
  • Agency Engagement:

    • Conduct agency reviews to gather market intelligence and provide feedback to management.
    • Develop and execute strategies to grow a profitable book of business.
  • Mentorship and Training:

    • Mentor and train team members, providing guidance and resolving escalated issues.
    • Contribute to the development and delivery of technical underwriting training.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Completion of or progress toward AU, CIC, and/or CPCU designations is highly desirable.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years of commercial lines underwriting experience preferred.
