Job Description
Job Title: Group Benefits Producer (Remote NY Candidates)
Location: Remote (Agency Based in Brooklyn, NY)
Compensation: Base Salary $70K+ (Negotiable Based on Experience) + Commission (Negotiable)
About the Agency:
We are a growing independent insurance agency headquartered in Brooklyn, NY, with a well-established commercial lines client base and a reputation for exceptional service and tailored risk management solutions. Our next strategic focus is building a robust Group Benefits division—and we’re looking for the right person to lead it.
Position Overview:
We’re seeking a Group Benefits Producer to launch and grow our agency’s benefits division from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity to spearhead a new business line within an agency that already has a solid base of clients ready to be cross-sold on group health and ancillary products.
This role is ideal for an entrepreneurial producer who thrives in a builder’s environment and wants the opportunity to eventually manage their own team. The position is remote, though occasional travel to client sites or the Brooklyn office may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Develop and lead the agency’s group benefits division — from initial sales efforts to long-term strategy and structure.
-
Identify cross-sell opportunities within our existing commercial lines book of business.
-
Prospect, consult, and close new group benefits accounts (including group health, dental, vision, life, disability, and voluntary benefits).
-
Build strong relationships with clients and carrier partners.
-
Provide consultative guidance to business owners and HR leaders on plan design, compliance, and cost-management strategies.
-
Coordinate enrollment meetings and ensure a smooth onboarding experience for new group clients.
-
Over time, assist in hiring and training an account manager to handle service and renewals as the book grows.
Qualifications:
-
Minimum 5-10 years of experience in group benefits sales or consulting.
-
Strong knowledge of group health and ancillary benefit products.
-
Experience working with small to mid-sized businesses; experience with cross-selling is a plus.
-
Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently and strategically.
-
Life & Health license required (NY license preferred or willingness to obtain).
-
Excellent communication, presentation, and client relationship skills.
-
Familiarity with major group benefits carriers and platforms.
Compensation & Perks:
-
Base salary starting at $70,000+, negotiable based on experience.
-
Commission structure negotiable—open to structuring a plan that rewards long-term growth and new business.
-
Remote flexibility with support from a collaborative team.
-
Opportunity to build and lead a division with hiring and leadership potential as growth milestones are met.
-
Access to a high-potential commercial client base with immediate cross-sell opportunities.
