Complex Claims Examiner
Job Summary
Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Complex Claims Examiner to join a dynamic team. This role involves managing complex General Liability (GL), Auto, and Property Damage claims across the United States. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial claims, litigation, and injury evaluation, with a proven ability to handle high-exposure claims.

- Salary Range: $100,000 - $125,000 per year

Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of 80-100 claims, with 80%+ involving litigation.
- Independently analyze liability claim submissions for coverage and set adequate reserves.
- Strategize and maximize early settlement opportunities for General Liability claims.
- Draft and review coverage letters and actively manage litigated matters.
- Attend mediations and settlement conferences as needed.
- Evaluate injuries and negotiate settlements up to policy limits, with an average claim value of $250,000+.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the claims management system.
- Collaborate with underwriting and actuarial teams to provide feedback and insights.
- Keep senior claims management informed of key issues and developments.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the insurance industry, with at least 5 years in Commercial General Liability claims.
- 5-10 years of litigation experience, with active involvement in case management.
- Strong background in injury evaluation and negotiation.
- Experience handling claims up to policy limits, avoiding wrongful death cases.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
- A JD from an ABA-accredited law school may be considered as a supplement to claims handling experience.
- Advanced knowledge of claims analysis and adjusting practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage a high volume of claims independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with clients and team members.
- Leadership and people management skills are a plus.
