Job Summary
The Commercial Insurance Customer Service Representative (CSR) will be responsible for servicing a portfolio of commercial insurance accounts within an independent agency environment. This role involves managing client inquiries, processing policy changes, and ensuring accurate and timely delivery of insurance documentation. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven record of stable job tenure and possess the technical knowledge required to support commercial lines policies.
Responsibilities
- Serve as primary point of contact for commercial insurance clients, addressing questions about policies, coverages, and billing
- Process endorsements, policy changes, cancellations, and renewals for commercial lines accounts
- Prepare and issue Certificates of Insurance, ensuring compliance with client and carrier requirements
- Review renewal documents, coordinate with carriers, and secure necessary signatures
- Update and maintain account information within the agency management system accurately and promptly
- Collaborate with producers and underwriters to resolve coverage issues, clarify policy terms, and deliver outstanding service
- Generate quotes for routine commercial lines requests (e.g., BOP, GL, Property, etc.) under producer direction
- Monitor and follow up on policy expirations, cancellations, and lapses to minimize coverage gaps
- Maintain detailed records of client interactions, correspondence, and file documentation
- Ensure adherence to agency service standards, compliance protocols, and all regulatory requirements
Qualifications/Requirements
- Active Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance license in good standing
- Minimum of 2–3 years of commercial lines servicing experience within an independent agency
- Demonstrated consistency in previous job tenure; candidates should be able to provide a stable employment history
- Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products (e.g., BOP, GL, Property, Umbrella) and standard endorsements
- Proficiency with agency management systems (e.g., AMS 360, Applied Epic, or similar platforms) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex policy information clearly
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines
- Excellent customer service orientation, with a focus on responsiveness and problem resolution
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Familiarity with compliance requirements and regulatory guidelines applicable to commercial insurance lines
