Employee Benefits Retention Business Consultant / Account Executive

Job Overview: We are seeking a proactive and experienced Employee Benefits Retention Business Consultant / Account Executive to join our team. In this role, you will focus on building and maintaining long-term relationships with clients, ensuring the retention of employee benefit programs, and identifying opportunities to expand existing accounts. You will work closely with clients to address their evolving needs, help optimize their benefits offerings, and provide strategic advice on benefit solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Client Retention & Relationship Management:

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, ensuring satisfaction and retention of their employee benefits programs.

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for client concerns and questions related to their employee benefits plans, offering strategic solutions and support.

    • Conduct regular check-ins and annual reviews with clients to ensure their benefits programs meet evolving business needs.

  2. Consultative Benefits Strategy:

    • Work closely with clients to assess their employee benefits needs and provide tailored solutions that align with their company objectives.

    • Provide strategic advice on optimizing benefits offerings, balancing cost, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

    • Identify opportunities to enhance or expand clients' employee benefits programs, ensuring they are competitive and aligned with employee needs.

  3. Retention & Account Growth:

    • Focus on customer retention by proactively managing the renewal process, addressing concerns, and delivering solutions that meet or exceed client expectations.

    • Negotiate with insurance carriers and third-party administrators to secure competitive pricing and plan options for clients.

    • Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing accounts, presenting new benefits products or services that can add value to the client’s portfolio.

  4. Renewal & Open Enrollment Support:

    • Lead the renewal process for employee benefits plans, ensuring timely submissions, negotiations, and communication with clients.

    • Coordinate the open enrollment process, providing guidance and support to clients and their employees to ensure a smooth and efficient enrollment period.

    • Prepare materials and presentations for open enrollment meetings, working with clients to communicate plan changes and updates to employees.

  5. Claims & Service Resolution:

    • Address client concerns related to claims, billing, and administrative issues, working with carriers and service providers to resolve problems promptly.

    • Provide ongoing service and support to clients, troubleshooting issues and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of benefits administration.

  6. Collaboration & Internal Coordination:

    • Collaborate with internal teams, such as account managers, brokers, and legal/compliance experts, to ensure seamless service delivery and support.

    • Share client insights and market trends with the team to improve offerings and service.

  7. Reporting & Analysis:

    • Provide clients with regular reporting on benefits plan performance, utilization, and overall effectiveness.

    • Assist clients in interpreting key benefits data, recommending adjustments to optimize employee satisfaction and cost-effectiveness.

    • Track and analyze account performance to identify areas for improvement and potential growth.

  8. Business Development:

    • Assist in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities within existing accounts.

    • Provide input on new business pitches, leveraging knowledge of existing clients to help create tailored proposals for new business.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field (preferred).

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in employee benefits, account management, or business consulting.

  • Proven track record in client retention and relationship management.

  • In-depth knowledge of employee benefits programs (health, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement, etc.) and relevant regulations (ERISA, ACA, HIPAA).

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to manage multiple client accounts, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with benefits management platforms and tools, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Sales or business development experience is a plus.

  • Certification in Employee Benefits (CEBS, HIA, or similar) is a plus.
