Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Commercial Lines Account Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial insurance and be capable of managing complex commercial accounts. This role is responsible for managing a book of business, assisting clients with their insurance needs, and ensuring the highest level of customer service while collaborating with internal teams, carriers, and clients to provide optimal coverage solutions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Account Management: Manage a portfolio of large or complex commercial accounts, ensuring all aspects of policy servicing are handled efficiently and accurately.
  • Client Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, acting as their primary point of contact for all commercial insurance inquiries and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Risk Assessment & Recommendations: Conduct thorough reviews of clients’ business operations and risk exposure to provide tailored insurance solutions. Recommend additional coverages and services to address any emerging needs.
  • Policy Administration: Oversee the day-to-day management of commercial insurance policies, including renewals, policy endorsements, modifications, and cancellations. Ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Claims Advocacy: Assist clients with navigating the claims process by serving as a liaison between clients and insurance carriers. Ensure that claims are handled promptly and that clients are kept informed throughout the process.
  • Negotiation & Placement: Work with insurance carriers to negotiate policy terms, premiums, and coverage options. Obtain competitive quotes and present them to clients for decision-making.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior account managers or team members. Share knowledge and best practices to improve team performance and client outcomes.
  • Market Intelligence: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, product offerings, and regulatory changes. Provide clients with insights into new and evolving insurance solutions that may benefit their business.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Ensure all client records and documents are accurately maintained and compliant with industry regulations and internal policies.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including underwriting, claims, and sales, to ensure a seamless client experience and to support new business development.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial lines account management or a similar role within the insurance industry.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products, including property, liability, workers' compensation, commercial auto, and specialty coverage lines.
  • Client Focus: Proven ability to build and maintain long-term relationships with commercial clients. Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Leadership Skills: Experience leading or mentoring junior team members and a strong desire to foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to explain complex insurance concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Organization: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts, deadlines, and priorities effectively.
  • Licensing: Active insurance license (as required by state/province regulations) in Property and Casualty.
  • Technology Skills: Proficiency in insurance software, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), and CRM tools.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certifications: Industry certifications such as CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor), CRM (Certified Risk Manager), or similar designations are highly preferred.
  • Specialty Insurance Knowledge: Familiarity with niche or specialty commercial lines such as construction, manufacturing, or professional liability.
  • Leadership Experience: Prior experience managing a team or providing mentorship to junior staff is highly valued.
