Job Summary

An independent brokerage is seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Contract Binding Underwriter with a strong background in commercial insurance. The role involves assessing new business submissions, preparing submissions to insurance companies, and managing the submit, quote, bind process using carrier portals. This position requires excellent communication skills to maintain relationships with clients, carriers, and internal teams, ensuring efficient and effective underwriting processes.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assess new business submissions and determine risk acceptability.
  • Prepare and submit underwriting proposals to insurance companies.
  • Utilize various carrier portals to manage the submission, quoting, and binding processes.
  • Generate quotes and binders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with underwriting guidelines.
  • Communicate status updates and follow-ups with coworkers, clients, and carriers.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in contract binding coverages, markets, and underwriting appetites.
  • Cultivate relationships with insurance companies through regular meetings and updates.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Assist other contract binding underwriters as needed to ensure team goals are met.

 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial insurance.
  • Active Property & Casualty (P&C) license.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to learn, problem-solve, and troubleshoot effectively.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant technical tools.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Energy, positivity, and a proactive attitude towards achieving team objectives.
