Summary
A well-established and growing personal auto insurance organization is seeking an experienced Casualty State Manager to provide leadership and operational oversight for casualty claims teams across multiple states. This individual will play a key role in driving claims excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, developing leadership talent, and maintaining high standards of claim handling and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and support a team of casualty claims managers across multiple jurisdictions.
- Ensure teams are appropriately staffed, trained, and equipped to meet performance expectations.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and ongoing professional development for management staff.
- Manage performance, address underperformance, and participate in compensation and merit review recommendations.
Claims Operations & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable state unfair claims practices regulations, statutes, case law, and internal claims handling procedures.
- Monitor claim workloads and demand activity to ensure timely and effective claim resolution.
- Maintain consistency in claim handling practices across all assigned territories.
- Stay current on legislative and regulatory changes impacting casualty claims operations.
Collaboration & Quality Assurance
- Partner with litigation leadership and other claims leaders to ensure consistency in claim evaluation and resolution strategies.
- Conduct regular file audits and quality reviews to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Analyze operational reports and performance metrics to drive process enhancements and improve results.
- Prepare and present performance reports to senior leadership.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of casualty claims experience, including significant exposure to automobile liability claims.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing claims professionals and/or claims leaders.
- Strong knowledge of Texas casualty claims handling practices; experience with Nevada and Georgia claims environments is highly desirable.
- Comprehensive understanding of policy interpretation, state statutes, regulatory requirements, and claims best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, improve operational performance, and drive accountability.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience conducting audits, trend analysis, and implementing process improvements.
- College degree preferred.
