Compensation Package
- Salary: Up to $175,000 annually

Responsibilities
- Provide strategic direction and leadership for assigned claims units, including severity and litigation management.
- Develop, plan, and implement strategic and tactical initiatives to achieve business objectives and performance metrics.
- Oversee high-severity and complex claims, participating in handling, reserving, and resolution discussions.
- Collaborate with senior claims management to develop defensive strategies for severe or complex claims.
- Manage and evaluate the company’s most severe and complex claims, including coverage, liability, and damages analysis.
- Make settlement decisions for cases exceeding Claims Manager authority levels, within delegated limits.
- Direct defense counsel activities to expedite claim settlements.
- Monitor and analyze organizational performance, develop key performance metrics, and implement quality assurance through audits.
- Drive team performance, holding members accountable for meeting objectives and metrics.
- Attract, coach, and develop talent, providing constructive feedback and fostering professional growth.
- Ensure compliance with state statutes and regulatory/legal requirements in claims handling practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to drive continuous improvement and contribute to business unit goals.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in claims and commercial property and/or casualty insurance, with expertise in managing complex claims and litigation.
- Proven leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to develop and retain talent.
- Advanced knowledge of claims operating practices, litigation laws, and regulations.
- Strong organizational, project management, and team leadership skills.

Job Summary
Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Claim Director/Team Lead to oversee and manage a Commercial Auto/Trucking Major Case Unit. This role involves leading a team of claim professionals, handling high-exposure and complex bodily injury claims, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure effective claim resolution. The position is based in a hybrid work environment, requiring three days per week onsite at one of the office locations.
Compensation Package
- Base Salary Range: $135,000 - $190,000 per year
- Bonus Opportunity: Up to 25% annual bonus
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of Technical Claim Managers and Directors to ensure high performance.
- Oversee the handling of high-exposure, complex bodily injury claims across the United States and Canada, with claim values ranging from $1M to $10M.
- Investigate and analyze complex coverage issues, draft coverage letters, and implement claim resolution strategies.
- Manage litigation, including selecting and directing defense counsel, and independently handle mediations and trials for complex claims.
- Collaborate with Underwriting to address developments impacting product lines.
- Present cases to senior leadership, including Vice Presidents and Executive Vice Presidents, articulating strategies and recommendations effectively.
- Handle special projects and additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, insurance, or a related field, with 8+ years of relevant legal or insurance experience in commercial transportation claims.
- Alternatively, a Juris Doctorate with 5+ years of transportation/insurance defense litigation experience will be considered.
- Proven claim handling and leadership experience in trucking, bus, and/or commercial auto claims or litigation is preferred.
- Strong ability to manage and develop a team of skilled claim professionals.
- Expertise in proactive claim handling, including investigation, attorney management, and resolution.
- Superior written and oral communication skills to effectively interact with insureds, underwriters, claimants, and other professionals.
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage deadlines effectively.

As a Litigation Paralegal, you will play a critical role in ensuring policyholders receive prompt and fair resolution of their claims. You will be responsible for investigating, evaluating, and negotiating homeowner and/or commercial liability claims, providing a high level of customer service throughout the process.
Responsibilities:
- Initiate prompt contact of all insureds/claimants/witnesses on all new claim assignments to conduct thorough coverage and liability/injury investigations. These investigations might require the representatives take in depth recorded statements to investigate coverage and liability/injury claims.
- Ability to read medical records and properly evaluate values in multiple jurisdictions to ensure proper reserve practices.
- Ability to recognize potential subrogation opportunities.
- Review insurance policies to determine coverage and assess the applicability of policy terms and conditions to the claims being investigated.
- Provide clear and accurate coverage opinions to internal stakeholders and insured parties.
- Engage in negotiation with claimants, legal representatives, and other involved parties to reach fair and timely settlements of both 1st and 3rd party claims.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four year college or university.
- Must have experience handling Litigated files.
- Capable of working independently without close supervision and ability to effectively manage workload while maintaining diary and focus on claim quality
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in liability claims adjusting.
- Strong knowledge of insurance policies, coverage issues, and relevant legal principles.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficient in claims management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to handle complex and high-exposure claims with a focus on resolution and customer satisfaction.
- Licenses: not required but would be a great bonus (MA, NY, CT, NH, PA, NJ)
- Must have: Homeowners Insurance experience (preferably with a carrier)
