Job Title: Commercial Insurance Account Manager (Trucking/Transportation)
Job Summary
Seeking a detail-oriented and client-focused Commercial Insurance Account Manager specializing in Trucking and Transportation. This role is critical in maintaining and growing relationships with valued clients, ensuring their insurance needs are fully met with customized solutions tailored to the unique requirements of their trucking operations. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the trucking and transportation industry, exceptional interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage complex insurance portfolios while delivering outstanding customer service.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for assigned clients in the trucking and transportation industry, maintaining strong, long-term relationships and ensuring high client satisfaction.
- Manage insurance accounts by providing expert advice, addressing inquiries, processing renewals, and ensuring coverage aligns with client needs.
- Evaluate client operations to assess risks and recommend coverage options tailored to the trucking/transportation business.
- Collaborate with underwriters, carriers, and brokers to obtain quotes, negotiate terms, and bind coverage efficiently.
- Conduct regular policy reviews with clients to ensure coverage remains comprehensive and relevant as their business needs evolve.
- Handle Certificates of Insurance (COI) requests, endorsements, and claims inquiries in a prompt and professional manner.
- Keep current on industry regulations, trends, and policy changes specific to the trucking and transportation sector to provide up-to-date guidance to clients.
- Utilize internal systems effectively to document activities, maintain accurate records, and ensure client data confidentiality.
- Support new client acquisition efforts, including participating in presentations and providing onboarding assistance.
Qualifications/Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Insurance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in commercial insurance account management, preferably in the trucking/transportation industry.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products, including liability, cargo, worker's compensation, and physical damage coverage.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building trust and rapport with diverse clients and team members.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate risks, interpret policy language, and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with insurance management software.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented, customer-focused environment.
Certifications and Licensing
- Active state Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance license is required.
- Professional designations such as CIC, CISR, or CRM are highly desirable but not mandatory.
Additional Requirements
- Familiarity with the unique regulatory and compliance aspects of the trucking/transportation industry is strongly preferred.
