Job Summary

Seeking a dynamic and experienced Casualty Reverse Flow Underwriting Team Leader to lead and mentor a team of underwriters specializing in casualty reverse flow. Responsibilities include overseeing underwriting processes, ensuring adherence to industry standards, and delivering high-quality solutions tailored to meet client needs.


Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Develop, mentor, and inspire a team of underwriters to achieve organizational goals and support professional growth.
  • Underwriting Expertise: Oversee and assess casualty reverse flow underwriting activities, ensuring compliance with company policies, underwriting guidelines, and risk management strategies.
  • Client Engagement: Collaborate with clients, brokers, and key stakeholders to understand business needs and provide tailored underwriting solutions.
  • Process Optimization: Continuously review business processes to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Performance Metrics: Monitor team performance through key performance indicators (KPIs), address challenges, and celebrate successes.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including claims, legal, and actuarial teams, to ensure cohesive service delivery and successful outcomes.
  • Innovation and Market Trends: Stay informed about trends in casualty underwriting and reverse flow to ensure the team’s competitive edge and implement innovative solutions.
  • Risk Assessment: Develop risk profiles, evaluate exposures, and make informed underwriting decisions for complex accounts.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Prepare periodic reports on team performance, market insights, and underwriting metrics to support strategic decision-making.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in casualty underwriting, including experience with reverse flow accounts.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven experience in leading or managing a team, with strong coaching and interpersonal skills.
  • Technical Skills: Solid knowledge of underwriting processes, risk evaluation, contract wording, and policy issuance.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships and negotiate effectively.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in underwriting software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant tools.
  • Certifications: Professional certifications in underwriting (e.g., CPCU, ARe) are a plus but not mandatory.
