Job Summary

Our client, a well-established insurance organization, is seeking an experienced Senior Investment Accountant to join its finance team. This individual will play a key role in overseeing investment accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and the timely completion of statutory reporting requirements. The ideal candidate has a strong background in insurance investment accounting, enjoys solving complex accounting issues, and thrives in a collaborative, process-driven environment. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead month-end and quarter-end investment accounting close processes
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen internal controls, and enhance reporting efficiency.
  • Oversee statutory filings, including NAIC Schedules D, DA, BA, and E, and related disclosures.
  • Oversee the daily activities of third-party investment accounting providers to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to service expectations.
  • Prepare, review, and support statutory investment schedules, exhibits, and related financial statement disclosures.
  • Assist with fair value adjustments, impairment analysis, and realized/unrealized gain and loss reporting.
  • Work closely with custodians, investment managers, trustees, auditors, and other external business partners.
  • Mentor junior accounting staff and provide technical guidance as needed.

 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • 6+ years of investment accounting experience, preferably within the insurance or financial services industry.
  • Strong understanding of statutory accounting principles and insurance regulatory reporting.
  • Experience working with investment accounting systems and third-party accounting or custodial service providers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA, CFA or progress towards
  • Experience with alternative investments, private funds, or complex investment structures.
  • Familiarity with implementing new accounting standards and regulatory guidance.
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Compensation Package

  • Base Salary: $130k - $145k + Bonus
