Job Title: Director of Business Development – Employee Benefits Practice Leader
Job Summary
Seeking a visionary and results-driven Director of Business Development to lead and expand the Employee Benefits (EB) division of the organization. As the Practice Leader, this role will be responsible for driving growth, developing strategic partnerships, and fostering long-term client relationships. The ideal candidate will bring a proven ability to identify new business opportunities, build effective teams, and deliver innovative benefit solutions that support clients’ goals.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Define and implement a progressive business development strategy for the Employee Benefits practice that aligns with the company’s mission and growth goals.
- Business Development: Identify, evaluate, and secure new opportunities for consulting and advising on employee benefits programs across various industries.
- Client Relationships: Cultivate strong relationships with new and existing clients, ensuring their needs are met with customized, forward-thinking benefit solutions.
- Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing business development and benefit delivery team, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Market Trends & Innovations: Keep abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and innovative approaches to benefits planning to ensure the organization remains a market leader.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including marketing, compliance, and HR, to support brand awareness, governance, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Performance Metrics: Develop and manage KPIs to measure team performance, revenue growth, and client satisfaction.
- Presentations and Proposals: Lead the preparation and delivery of client presentations, proposals, and pitches.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Proven experience (10+ years) in business development, sales, or consulting within the employee benefits sector or a related field.
- Strong leadership skills, with experience building and managing high-performing teams.
- Deep understanding of employee benefits, including insurance products, retirement plans, wellness programs, and compliance with applicable regulations.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, partners, and team members at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex business challenges and develop creative, strategic solutions.
- Proven track record of meeting and exceeding business development targets while upholding client satisfaction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field; advanced degree or certification in employee benefits (e.g., CEBS) is a plus.
