Job Description

Senior Network Engineer

An established organization is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to play a leading role in the design, stability, and evolution of its enterprise networking environment. This position will be responsible for architecting and supporting highly reliable network infrastructure across corporate offices, cloud platforms, and remote connectivity environments.

This role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership. The individual will guide network architecture decisions, resolve complex infrastructure challenges, and help ensure the organization’s connectivity platforms remain secure, scalable, and resilient as the business continues to grow.

The Senior Network Engineer will also collaborate closely with teams responsible for cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise applications to ensure networking solutions align with broader technology strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Network Design & Infrastructure Strategy

  • Architect and maintain enterprise network environments spanning corporate offices, data centers, remote access, and cloud connectivity

  • Translate technical and business requirements into secure and scalable networking solutions

  • Provide technical guidance on network architecture standards and infrastructure design principles

  • Contribute to long-term planning for network modernization and platform evolution

Implementation & Engineering Oversight

  • Lead the rollout of complex networking projects including infrastructure upgrades, technology migrations, and platform deployments

  • Oversee the configuration and implementation of networking technologies including switching, routing, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, and remote connectivity platforms

  • Review network changes to ensure they follow engineering standards and operational best practices

  • Ensure new network components are thoroughly tested, documented, and properly transitioned into production environments

Advanced Troubleshooting & Incident Resolution

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex network incidents and service disruptions

  • Perform detailed analysis across infrastructure layers to identify underlying causes of performance or reliability issues

  • Implement long-term fixes and preventative improvements that reduce recurring issues and strengthen system reliability

Network Security & Risk Management

  • Design and support network security controls including segmentation strategies, firewall policies, and secure remote access frameworks

  • Work alongside cybersecurity and compliance teams to ensure infrastructure designs meet regulatory and governance standards

  • Assist with investigation and response activities related to infrastructure security incidents

Performance Management & Capacity Planning

  • Monitor network performance trends and system utilization to ensure consistent service levels

  • Lead initiatives focused on capacity planning, infrastructure scalability, and technology lifecycle management

  • Identify opportunities to optimize network performance and operational costs without sacrificing reliability or security

Documentation & Engineering Standards

  • Maintain detailed architecture diagrams, infrastructure documentation, and operational standards

  • Establish consistent engineering practices to improve reliability and maintainability of network systems

  • Ensure documentation supports operational continuity, disaster recovery planning, and internal knowledge sharing

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to network engineers and infrastructure team members

  • Work closely with internal technology teams to support application deployments, cloud integration, and enterprise initiatives

  • Coordinate with technology vendors, service providers, and engineering partners when implementing or supporting network solutions

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred

  • Equivalent professional experience may substitute for formal education

Professional Experience

  • Significant experience working in enterprise infrastructure environments with a focus on network engineering

  • Strong background designing and supporting large-scale networks across multiple locations and hybrid infrastructure environments

  • Deep understanding of core networking technologies such as routing, switching, TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and wide-area networking

  • Experience supporting secure infrastructure architectures including firewall platforms, segmentation strategies, and network security controls

  • Demonstrated experience optimizing network performance and designing highly available infrastructure environments

  • Familiarity with modern networking technologies including cloud networking, virtualization, software-defined networking, or SD-WAN solutions

  • Experience using monitoring, observability, or analytics tools to manage network performance

Certifications (Preferred)

  • Advanced networking certifications (such as professional- or expert-level networking credentials) are strongly preferred

  • Additional certifications related to security or cloud networking technologies are considered beneficial
