Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Vertical Ownership

  • Develop and execute the strategic vision for the Hotels vertical, aligning with organizational growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction goals.
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert on hotel operations, risk management, and industry trends.
  • Oversee the financial performance of the Hotel vertical, including loss ratio, rate adequacy, portfolio profitability, and growth targets.

Underwriting Leadership & Discipline

  • Collaborate with underwriting and actuarial teams to finalize underwriting guidelines, product structures, and required filings for the hotel program.
  • Underwrite hotel accounts, ensuring disciplined risk selection and long-term profitability.
  • Establish and implement best practices, training frameworks, and quality standards for the hotel vertical.

Industry Engagement & Customer Focus

  • Attend national conventions to stay informed on industry trends and engage with customers to understand their needs.
  • Collaborate with hotel risk management vendors to enhance service offerings.
  • Provide consultative expertise to improve the customer journey from submission intake through onboarding and renewal.

Analytics, Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Utilize data and analytics to inform underwriting strategies, pricing decisions, and portfolio management.
  • Identify and integrate third-party data sources and technology tools to enhance risk assessment and operational efficiency.
  • Lead projects from concept to execution, ensuring measurable outcomes and continuous process improvement.

Operational Excellence

  • Manage multiple initiatives effectively in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Participate in underwriting audits, file reviews, and compliance checks to ensure adherence to guidelines and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; insurance designations preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial P&C insurance, with at least 10 years in underwriting.
  • Proven experience in underwriting hotels and managing specialty verticals.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving growth and profitability targets.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude and collaborative approach.
  • Experience in vendor/association relationship management and business development.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%.
