About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Agribusiness Underwriter to join our insurance carrier client's underwriting team. This role is responsible for evaluating, pricing, and underwriting a diverse book of agribusiness risks, including farms, ranches, growers, processors, and related commercial agricultural operations. The ideal candidate brings strong technical underwriting knowledge, a deep understanding of the agricultural marketplace, and proven success building profitable agency relationships.

Requirements:
- 5+ years of Commercial P&C underwriting experience, with at least 2 years focused in agribusiness, farm/ranch, or agricultural commercial risk.
- Strong technical knowledge of property, liability, inland marine, commercial auto, and umbrella lines.
- Experience underwriting complex agricultural operations such as food processing, livestock operations, crop-related risks, and equipment-heavy exposures.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial statements, loss runs, exposures, and risk reports.
- Proven track record of working effectively with independent agencies.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Professional designations (AU, AFIS, CPCU, or ARM) preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, analyze, and underwrite new and renewal commercial agribusiness submissions in accordance with company guidelines.
- Assess risk characteristics including property, liability, farm operations, commercial auto, equipment, and specialty agricultural exposures.
- Determine appropriate pricing, coverage terms, and conditions to achieve profitability and growth targets.
- Manage and grow a designated agency territory through effective communication, relationship management, and business development.
- Provide consultative underwriting expertise to agents, brokers, and internal partners.
- Conduct periodic portfolio reviews to ensure rate adequacy and underwriting discipline.
- Collaborate with Loss Control, Claims, Product, and Actuarial teams to improve underwriting strategies and product performance.
- Maintain accurate documentation, file notes, and workflow activity within underwriting systems.
- Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging agribusiness risks.
