Job Title: Underwriter – Group Insurance & Benefits

Hybrid Schedule: 3 days from home and 2 in office. Starting January 2026 will switch to 3 days in office 2 from home

Location: one of the 3 locations Berkeley Heights, NJ , New York, NY, or Melville, NY 

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented underwriter to enhance service delivery and reporting capabilities for our clients. This position will play a key role in setting new standards in client service, plan design analysis, financial tracking, and RFP/proposal management. The underwriter will collaborate closely with senior leadership, client management teams, insurance carriers, and vendor partners. The focus will be on group benefits including disability, life, and voluntary products for large employer groups.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop standardized reporting formats to evaluate benefit plan performance from a pricing and experience perspective.

  • Manage and support Request for Proposal (RFP) processes.

  • Create and maintain a database of benchmarking data for use with current clients and prospects.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to build and maintain an online library of client-specific documents (e.g., contracts, renewals).

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers to ensure high-quality client service.

  • Partner with internal subject matter experts to identify additional risk management tools and opportunities for clients.


Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of group insurance risk analysis, pricing methods, and benefit plan design. Experience with multi-life individual disability plans is a plus.

  • Strong project management abilities.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Creative thinking and problem-solving mindset.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including the ability to manipulate data, perform queries, and build efficient tools.

  • Open and excited for client facing interactions

  • Experienced in Benefit Point software 

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base salary range: $84,000 – $110,000 annually, depending on location, experience, and qualifications.

  • Total compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, retirement savings options, paid time off, and paid holidays.

  • Additional components of compensation may be offered based on role specifics.
