The Jonus Group is a specialized insurance staffing firm committed to connecting skilled professionals with leading insurance companies. Our client is currently seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join their team. This is a fully remote opportunity!
This is a broad role which will have exposure across all the taxes and requires a global reach, therefore a mixed tax background is desirable. This role is expected to be a tax business partner with key finance individuals, to help remediate existing tax risks and identify tax opportunities.
This is a unique role, giving the right candidate the opportunity to be in at the ground level and help implement and shape the North America tax function for a global business. As this is a newly formed group tax function and the group is highly acquisitive, this role requires a dynamic self-starter and problem solver, who is eager to gain practical experience and make a difference.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax compliance & reporting
- Manage the annual income tax compliance process, prepared by external tax advisers.
- Manage the year-end tax accounting process, reviewing workings prepared by external advisers and responding to auditor queries.
- Preparation/coordination of state and local Indirect Tax returns to ensure accurate and timely filings.
- Manage resolution of all Indirect Tax issues with state and local taxing authorities.
- Collaborate with the different operating businesses in the North America subgroup.
Tax advisory
- Identify opportunities for deployment of technology in automating all appropriate aspects of the Indirect Tax function.
- Identify and deliver potential tax savings.
- Oversight of adviser led M&A process, ensuring tax input is delivered timely and effectively.
- Ensure newly acquired businesses are integrated into the Tax Function effectively.
Tax function implementation
- Work with Group Head of Tax, North America CFO, and external advisers to implement and deliver the group’s transfer pricing policy, associated calculations and documentation.
- Assess, monitor and streamline cross-border intercompany and third-party transactions from a tax perspective.
- Help devise/deliver tax business partner model for the North America operating businesses.
- Implement and maintain good tax governance e.g. Tax Risk Register, process documentation
- Increase the visibility of the Group Tax Function across the business, being the first point of contact for all North America tax-related matters.
Qualifications:
- Accounting/tax qualification, CPA preferred
- In-house experience within the insurance industry, mixed tax experience desirable
- Proactive self-starter with a desire to problem solve and a want to hit the ground running
- Ability to collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders, strong interpersonal skills is a must
Compensation:
- $100,000-$120,000/year+ (based on experience) plus 5% bonus
