Responsibilities
As a Contract Surety Underwriter, your key responsibilities will include:
- Analyzing financial statements, job schedules, credit reports, and other underwriting documentation to assess risk and determine appropriate coverage terms.
- Maintaining and developing strong relationships with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders.
- Making timely and informed underwriting decisions in alignment with company standards and guidelines.
- Delivering exceptional customer service to brokers and clients.
- Staying informed on market conditions, industry trends, and regulatory changes to support sound underwriting practices.
- Managing multiple priorities effectively while ensuring accuracy and compliance in all underwriting activities.
Qualifications/Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (preferred).
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant underwriting or related experience.
- Strong financial analysis skills, including the ability to evaluate financial statements and credit reports.
- Proven ability to assess and price risk independently.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Knowledge of surety or bond underwriting is preferred.
- Willingness and ability to travel within the assigned territory.
