Position Overview:

Our client, a leading insurance carrier, is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial General Liability & Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster to join their claims organization. This individual will be responsible for managing complex commercial liability and workers’ compensation claims from inception through resolution while ensuring exceptional customer service, regulatory compliance, and effective claim outcomes.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical claims expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to independently manage a high-exposure caseload involving litigated and non-litigated claims.

Compensation:

  • $110,000 - $145,000/year (based on experience)

Responsibilities

  1. Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve complex Commercial General Liability and Workers’ Compensation claims in accordance with company guidelines and applicable state regulations.
  2. Handle claims involving bodily injury, property damage, lost time, and litigated exposures.
  3. Conduct detailed coverage analysis and determine compensability and liability decisions.
  4. Manage claims throughout the full lifecycle, including reserve setting, documentation, settlement negotiations, and file closure.
  5. Coordinate with defense counsel, medical providers, independent adjusters, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  6. Maintain timely and accurate claim file documentation and claim diary management.
  7. Review medical records, wage statements, legal documents, and investigative reports to determine appropriate claim strategy.
  8. Establish and maintain appropriate reserves based on claim exposure and ongoing developments.
  9. Participate in mediations, settlement conferences, and negotiations as needed.
  10. Ensure compliance with all carrier guidelines, state regulations, and reporting requirements.
  11. Provide superior customer service to insureds, brokers, claimants, and business partners.
  12. Mentor and provide guidance to junior claims professionals when appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5+ years of experience handling Commercial General Liability and Workers’ Compensation claims.
  • Must have an active NY Adjuster's License
  • Strong knowledge of coverage analysis, litigation management, and claims investigation.
  • Experience managing complex and litigated claims independently.
  • Familiarity with multi-state claims handling and jurisdictional regulations preferred.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with claims management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Industry designations such as AIC, CPCU, ARM, or WCCA are a plus.
