Our client is a highly respected insurance organization dedicated to delivering exceptional claims handling and legal expertise across complex casualty and management liability lines. They are seeking an experienced Claims Attorney with Healthcare or Medical Professional Liability expertise to join their growing claims team.

Position Summary

The Claims Attorney will be responsible for managing a caseload of Medical Professional Liability claims from inception through resolution. This individual will analyze coverage, evaluate liability and damages exposure, oversee litigation strategy, and work collaboratively with insureds, defense counsel, and internal stakeholders to drive efficient claim outcomes.

 

Compensation

  • $140,000 - $170,000/year (based on experience)

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • 3+ years of experience handling medical professional liability claims
  • Strong understanding of medical professional liability coverage and litigation management
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple complex claims in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Manage a pending of medical professional liability claims
  • Analyze insurance coverage and evaluate liability and exposure
  • Develop and execute claim resolution strategies
  • Retain, manage, and provide direction to defense counsel throughout the litigation process
  • Review pleadings, legal filings, settlement demands, and litigation budgets
  • Participate in mediations, settlement negotiations, and claim resolution discussions
  • Maintain timely and accurate claim file documentation
  • Communicate effectively with insureds, brokers, underwriters, and internal leadership
  • Ensure compliance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements
