Job Summary

Seeking a Complex Claims Specialist (Professional Lines). The role involves adjusting and resolving complex to severe claims, drafting coverage letters, leading defense strategy on litigated files, and mentoring Claim Examiners.

Responsibilities

  • Adjust and resolve complex to severe claims, including all phases of litigation
  • Draft complex coverage letters, including reservation of rights and denial letters
  • Review and analyze claim documentation and legal filings
  • Drive litigation best practices to lead defense strategy on litigated files
  • Mentor Claim Examiners
  • Use superior knowledge and experience to affect positive claim outcomes via investigation, negotiation, and alternative dispute resolutions
  • Identify emerging exposures and claims trends
  • Accurately document claim files in compliance with company policies and regulatory authorities
  • Develop content and conduct training for claims team and underwriters as requested

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Professional Lines background
  • 8+ years in insurance and 5+ in litigation
  • JD from an ABA accredited law school may be considered as a supplement to claims handling experience
  • Advanced knowledge of claims analysis and adjusting practices
  • B.A./B.S degree from an accredited College or University preferred
  • Ability to act as a subject matter expert within the team
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal oversight
  • Experience attending and leading mediations, arbitrations, and trials
