About the Role:
Our client, a leading boutique Insurance and Employee Benefits Broker and Advisor headquartered in Dallas, TX is seeking a Controller to join their team. This hands-on role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and isn't afraid to lead, speak up, and ensure financial accuracy and accountability across departments. Insurance experience is a plus.
As the Controller, you will handle Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), commission revenue tracking, payroll for a team of 14, and monthly reconciliations. This is a key position that supports executive decision-making through accurate financial reporting and oversight.

Key Responsibilities:
- Business Control and Financial Planning skills
- Analytical Skills and Business Planning abilities
- Experience in finance and financial analysis
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Oversee and manage the full cycle of accounting activities, including:
- Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
- Commission and revenue tracking
- Revenue and expense reporting
- Bi-weekly payroll for a team of 14
- Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare financial statements and support budgeting and forecasting efforts.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Confidently communicate financial insights and discrepancies to stakeholder
Education and/or Experience:
- 5+ years of experience as a Controller, Staff Accountant, Bookkeeper, or Payroll Manager
- Proven experience with QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop)
- Advanced Excel skills (Pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas, reporting)
- Strong understanding of financial principles, payroll, and commission structures
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills — not afraid to take initiative or speak up
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA is a plus)
Salary/Benefits
- $80K-$100K/year (based on experience)

- This is a full-time on-site role located in Dallas, TX. Fridays are half days. Off at noon.
