Accountant / Accounting Manager
Job Summary:
The Accountant/Accounting Manager will play a critical role in managing day-to-day accounting and finance activities within a growing independent insurance agency. This position involves overseeing the agency’s financial operations and ensuring accuracy in all financial reporting. In addition to handling primary accounting responsibilities, the role will take on finance-related projects and initiatives in collaboration with the leadership team, helping to shape the agency’s financial strategy as it grows.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and ensure adherence to effective internal financial controls
- Manage daily accounting transactions, maintaining accurate and organized records and reports
- Record and maintain financial data within agency accounting systems
- Complete all monthly, quarterly, and annual closing/reporting activities
- Oversee cash flow management and related reporting
- Prepare financial reports for leadership and senior management
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, and resolve any reconciliation discrepancies
- Aggregate financial data for tax preparation and coordinate with external accounting firms for audit and tax purposes
- Prepare and maintain budgets and forecasting reports
- Support the agency with special financial projects as assigned
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance and accounting
- Experience with Agency Bill accounting
- Microsoft Excel expertise
- Familiarity with insurance agency accounting processes is preferred
- Experience with the Applied Epic agency management system is preferred
