ABOUT US:

The Jonus Group specializes in placing top talent within the insurance industry. We are currently seeking an experienced Premium Auditor for one of our esteemed insurance carrier clients. You will perform audits on commercial lines Workers Compensation and General Liability policies, subject to audit upon expiration to verify appropriate classifications, exposures and basis of premium calculations. This in efforts to determine earned premium for the period(s) in question. You will review policyholder financial records, including, but not limited to, federal and state quarterly tax returns, payroll records, financial statements, general ledgers and/or related reports.  In this role, you will consult with policyholders regarding business practices, operations and staff duties while explaining various aspects of the audit to the audit contact.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Within the designated territory, meet with the insureds at their place of business, via Teams or by phone, to accurately audit exposures.
  • Complete audits by reviewing policyholder financial records, including federal and state quarterly tax returns, payroll records, financial statements, general ledgers and other related documents/reports.
  • Determine correct exposures and classifications for use in audit process by applying knowledge of National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI), Insurance Services Office (ISO) and other audit-related guidelines.  
  • Review, inspect, and investigate any aspect of the business necessary to develop earned premium.
  • Prepare detailed reports of audit findings and submits to corporate office.
  • Provide description of insured’s business operations to assist underwriter in risk assessment and insurance fraud discussions.
  • Resolve any audit dispute through review and research. Perform some mail or telephone audits.
  • Complete audit summaries by entering payroll records, quarterly statements, receipts, etc. Schedules future audits and selects travel routes when conducting audits in person (Physical).

 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or equivalent work experience
  • Strong math, bookkeeping and/or accounting aptitude with attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and related software platforms
  • Knowledge of property and casualty insurance industry and applicable Workers’ Compensation and General Liability regulations and classifications preferred
  • Ability to analyze, research and resolve audit issues
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Ability to work independently as well as with others under minimal supervision needed
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
  • Travel required; a valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards required if traveling

COMPENSATION:

  • $60,000- $85,000/year based on experience

  • Flexibility to work remotely **This position can be performed remotely for candidates who reside in Grand Rapids, MI**
