Job Summary

Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surplus Lines Property & Casualty Underwriter to join a dynamic Underwriting Team. In this role, you will be responsible for servicing a renewal book, producing new business, underwriting, and managing accounts within assigned territories. You will play a critical role in maintaining a profitable book of business while building strong relationships with producers, clients, and carrier partners.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze submissions for acceptability and completeness, securing supplemental information as needed.
  • Service existing accounts, monitor claims and loss experience, and recommend changes to maintain profitability.
  • Determine and recommend acceptable terms within underwriting authority, bind coverage, and oversee timely issuance of policies.
  • Build and maintain a profitable book of business.
  • Develop comprehensive referrals for management team review or carrier approval.
  • Research and resolve underwriting issues with management or carriers on a case-by-case basis.
  • Maintain and develop strong relationships with producers and members.
  • Travel as needed to attend industry functions and meet with producers and members.
  • Assist with special reports and projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred, or equivalent business experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of Surplus Lines Property & Casualty underwriting experience.
  • Strong underwriting and marketing skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the industry.
  • Highly responsive with excellent decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer operations within a Windows environment.
  • Licensed Surplus Lines Property & Casualty Producer.
  • CPCU designation preferred.
