Job Summary

A motivated and detail-oriented E&S Underwriting Assistant is needed to support underwriting operations for Excess & Surplus (E&S) lines. This remote position allows for flexible work from any location while being part of a dynamic organization.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in underwriting support within commercial insurance, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to collaboration.


Responsibilities

  • Support E&S Underwriters in the review, analysis, and processing of submissions for new and renewal commercial insurance policies.
  • Enter policy data accurately into underwriting systems, adhering to compliance guidelines and service standards.
  • Prepare and compile underwriting information, policy documents, and endorsements.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, brokers, and agents to clarify application details or resolve inquiries.
  • Monitor and manage the submission process, serving as the key point of contact for client account updates.
  • Conduct market research and data collection to assist underwriters in pricing and risk analysis.
  • Maintain records of underwriting decisions and documentation per company policies.
  • Contribute to team projects aimed at improving workflows and underwriting processes.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Education and Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field preferred.
    • Minimum 2 years of experience as an Underwriting Assistant or related role within commercial insurance, preferably within the E&S segment.
  • Skills and Competencies:

    • Strong understanding of underwriting principles and processes in commercial insurance (E&S experience is highly desirable).
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with underwriting or policy administration systems is a plus.
    • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience engaging diverse stakeholders.
    • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a virtual environment.
