Broker / Binding Underwriter
Job Summary
Seeking a motivated and experienced Broker / Binding Underwriter to join a team in a production role. The ideal candidate will bring a profitable book of business, strong carrier and agency relationships, and the ability to hit the ground running. Open to hiring an experienced professional or an up-and-coming talent with a proven track record in the industry.
Compensation Package
- Salary Range: $70,000 - $225,000 (commensurate with experience)
- Additional benefits and incentives will be discussed during the interview process.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and select new business and renewal accounts in alignment with underwriting philosophy and guidelines.
- Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with agency partners.
- Educate agents on risk selection philosophy and pricing guidelines.
- Monitor performance metrics, including premium goals, business mix, and written-to-quoted ratios.
- Identify and pursue sales opportunities to achieve company growth objectives.
- Conduct field underwriting and quoting as needed, including travel to agency locations.
- Review claims activity, loss control surveys, and inspection reports, taking appropriate action as required.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve policy issues and ensure smooth operations.
- Delegate tasks to assistant underwriters and processing assistants as necessary.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Experience: A profitable book of business and strong industry connections are highly desirable. Candidates with experience in wholesale (e.g., RT, Amwins, CRC, J&J) or retail spaces with relevant connections are encouraged to apply.
- Education: College graduates with backgrounds in Risk Management, Insurance (RMI), Sales, or Business are welcome. Experience in customer service or the restaurant industry is a plus.

- Onboarding Requirements:
- Initial phone or in-person interview with leadership.
- HR phone screen and testing.
- Final interview with senior leadership.
