Senior Underwriter - Professional Risk (A&E)

Job Summary

Seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Underwriter to join our Professional Risk team, specializing in Architects & Engineers (A&E) coverage .The ideal candidate will bring a customer-centric mindset, a strong understanding of professional liability insurance, and a proven track record of delivering underwriting profitability. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, underwriting policies tailored to the unique needs of the A&E sector.

Compensation Package

  • Salary Range: $120,000 - $155,000 (commensurate with experience)
  • Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite, price, and negotiate accounts in alignment with company strategy and guidelines for A&E product lines.
  • Develop and deepen broker relationships across the East Coast region to drive new business and renewals.
  • Collaborate with the national A&E team to share knowledge and foster a culture of continuous learning.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to brokers and clients.
  • Mentor and train junior team members locally and nationally.
  • Organize and lead in-office quoting days with top broker partners.
  • Monitor product performance and propose strategies to enhance productivity and profitability.
  • Consistently exceed established quote output targets.
  • Participate in regional travel, including broker visits and industry events (up to 25%).

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in underwriting contractors, real estate developers, and design professional E&O coverage (preferred).
  • Strong customer-focused mindset with a passion for delivering superior service.
  • Solid understanding of sales principles, negotiation techniques, and a competitive drive.
  • Proven ability to achieve underwriting profitability and manage complex risks.
  • Team-oriented with excellent collaboration and information-sharing skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently in a collaborative environment.
  • High attention to detail, results-driven, and proactive in identifying business opportunities.
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
