Commercial Lines Production Binding Underwriter
Job Summary
Seeking a highly motivated and experienced Commercial Lines Production Binding Underwriter to join a growing team. This role is focused on new business production and offers an exciting opportunity to build and grow a book of business from the ground up. The ideal candidate will possess strong marketing capabilities, proven sales ability, and a drive to succeed in a competitive environment.
Compensation Package
- Base Salary: $80,000 – $105,000 (potential to reach $125,000+ for candidates with a significant book of business and strong relationships)
- Bonus Structure: Commission eligibility begins once the producer generates 2x their base salary in revenue and covers support staff costs.

Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and grow a book of business.
- Manage agency relationships and serve as the lead client contact.
- Develop and execute a marketing plan to increase new and renewal business.
- Rate, quote, and bind each risk to determine acceptability, coverage, and pricing for large or complex renewals and new business.
- Develop and submit underwriting referrals to company brokerage facilities and management.
- Monitor key metrics to formulate corrective actions impacting new business hit rates, renewal retention, premium growth, and loss ratios.
- Lead, train, and develop Assistant and Associate Underwriters or Brokers.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in commercial lines underwriting or brokerage, with excess & surplus experience preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in sales and marketing.
- Proven organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Interest in continued education and professional development.
- Insurance license, CPCU, CIC, or comparable designations preferred.
