Senior Property Facultative Underwriter – Construction/Builders Risk

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Property Facultative Underwriter to lead the development and management of a U.S.-focused construction/property portfolio. This is a highly visible role with both technical underwriting and market-facing responsibilities.


Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and price complex facultative property risks, with a focus on construction and builders risk exposures
  • Evaluate submissions and determine appropriate structure, capacity, pricing, and terms based on risk assessment and internal guidelines
  • Build and maintain relationships with brokers and cedents to support business development and submission flow
  • Represent the organization in the marketplace, including broker meetings, industry events, and client engagement
  • Manage an assigned portfolio, including new business production, renewals, and profitability oversight
  • Partner with internal teams (including global underwriting counterparts) to align on strategy, appetite, and portfolio performance
  • Produce reporting and analysis to support portfolio tracking, business planning, and growth initiatives
  • Stay current on market trends, construction exposures, and regulatory developments within the property space

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of underwriting experience within insurance or reinsurance, with a focus on property risks
  • Demonstrated expertise in facultative underwriting, particularly within builders risk or large construction projects
  • Experience working with complex or large-scale risks across various construction types (commercial, infrastructure, energy, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of coverage structures, contract language, and pricing considerations in the reinsurance space
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain broker relationships and drive business growth
  • Comfortable operating in a highly technical, client-facing environment
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a global underwriting framework
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
