Senior Commercial Lines Underwriter (E&S)
Job Summary
Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Commercial Lines Underwriter (E&S) to join a dynamic and growing team. This is a senior-level production role that offers the opportunity to build and scale a significant book of business while mentoring junior staff and driving higher-level production within the office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial lines underwriting, particularly in the Excess & Surplus (E&S) market, and a proven ability to manage complex risks. This role provides access to deep E&S markets, strong carrier relationships, and a flexible hybrid work environment.
Compensation Package
- Base Salary Range: $115,000 – $150,000
- Bonus: Sales incentive bonus plan

Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and grow a personal book of business.
- Serve as the lead contact for agency partners and key relationships.
- Underwrite, rate, quote, and bind complex new and renewal business.
- Execute marketing strategies to drive production and retention.
- Submit and manage underwriting referrals to brokerage facilities and leadership.
- Track and manage key performance metrics, including hit ratio, retention, growth, and loss ratio.
- Lead, train, and mentor assistant and associate underwriters.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Licenses/Designations:
- Property & Casualty (P&C) license preferred.
- CPCU, CIC, or similar professional designations preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3+ years of commercial lines underwriting or brokerage experience.
- Strong preference for candidates with E&S experience.
- Lines of Business:
- Expertise in commercial lines, particularly complex, middle-market, and E&S risks.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in standard agency management systems.
- Personal Attributes:
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
