Senior Commercial Lines Underwriter (E&S)

Job Summary

Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Commercial Lines Underwriter (E&S) to join a dynamic and growing team. This is a senior-level production role that offers the opportunity to build and scale a significant book of business while mentoring junior staff and driving higher-level production within the office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial lines underwriting, particularly in the Excess & Surplus (E&S) market, and a proven ability to manage complex risks. This role provides access to deep E&S markets, strong carrier relationships, and a flexible hybrid work environment.

Compensation Package

  • Base Salary Range: $115,000 – $150,000
  • Bonus: Sales incentive bonus plan

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and grow a personal book of business.
  • Serve as the lead contact for agency partners and key relationships.
  • Underwrite, rate, quote, and bind complex new and renewal business.
  • Execute marketing strategies to drive production and retention.
  • Submit and manage underwriting referrals to brokerage facilities and leadership.
  • Track and manage key performance metrics, including hit ratio, retention, growth, and loss ratio.
  • Lead, train, and mentor assistant and associate underwriters.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Licenses/Designations:
    • Property & Casualty (P&C) license preferred.
    • CPCU, CIC, or similar professional designations preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3+ years of commercial lines underwriting or brokerage experience.
    • Strong preference for candidates with E&S experience.
  • Lines of Business:
    • Expertise in commercial lines, particularly complex, middle-market, and E&S risks.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in standard agency management systems.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
