Carrier Payables / Bookkeeper

A growing specialty P&C insurance agency is seeking a Carrier Payables / Bookkeeper to support the accounting team. This role is primarily focused on carrier payables and direct-bill commission reconciliation, working closely with carriers and internal teams to ensure accurate payment tracking, timely resolution of discrepancies, and overall financial accuracy. This position focuses on payables, commissions, and cash flow within a structured, fast-paced agency environment. • Salary:  $50K - $65K
• Location:  Atlanta, GA
• Schedule:  Hybrid (3 days in office)
• Start Date:  ASAP (targeting early April)

Carrier Payables & Commission Accounting

• Reconcile direct bill commission statements and carrier payables
• Match carrier statements to payments received and identify discrepancies
• Investigate and resolve commission and payment differences with carriers and internal teams
• Process commission adjustments and return payments
• Maintain accurate carrier records, including banking and payment details
• Ensure accurate tracking of carrier balances and commission activity

Cash Application & Agency Billing Support

• Apply client payments and maintain accurate cash posting
• Support direct bill processing within Applied Epic
• Assist with billing activity and account reconciliation
• Identify and resolve unapplied cash, payment mismatches, and account discrepancies
• Monitor receivables and support follow-up on outstanding items

Agency Accounting Support

• Assist with premium trust activity and payment tracking
• Support reconciliations related to carrier and client activity
• Maintain organized financial records and documentation
• Assist with month-end support tasks as needed (non-GL focused)

Systems & Environment

• Applied Epic (required)
• Agency accounting workflows tied to commission and carrier activity
• Collaborative accounting and operations team

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or billing experience
• Experience with accounts payable, cash application, or reconciliation
• Insurance agency or brokerage experience strongly preferred
• Familiarity with Applied Epic is highly preferred
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high-volume transactional work
• Ability to identify discrepancies and follow through to resolution
• Organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a structured environment
