Job Summary
The Risk Manager is responsible for overseeing comprehensive insurance and risk management programs on behalf of clients. This role focuses on assessing and identifying risks that could impact client operations, financial performance, reputation, safety, or security. The position requires a strategic mindset and a consultative approach to guide clients in managing risk exposure and implementing effective mitigation strategies.

 

Responsibilities

  • Own, drive, and manage risk programs for clients across various industries.
  • Serve as a strategic risk consultant to internal teams and external clients.
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness of client loss management programs, identifying opportunities to reduce costs and improve outcomes.
  • Partner with brokerage services to evaluate risk financing and insurance purchasing strategies; leverage quantitative analysis to support recommendations.
  • Design and implement reporting protocols for client risk mitigation initiatives and cost analysis.
  • Establish risk-related policies and procedures tailored to client needs; conduct assessments using documentation, statistics, and market research.
  • Review and refine client risk management frameworks, suggesting improvements and overseeing implementation.
  • Analyze operational and financial metrics (e.g., cash flow, inventory, employee activity) to detect and address potential fraud or inefficiencies.
  • Draft and present customized risk reports and proposals to client leadership teams.
  • Recommend and implement client-specific risk solutions, including insurance structures, safety programs, continuity planning, and recovery measures.
  • Provide strategic oversight for client loss prevention programs.
  • Act as a liaison with attorneys, insurers, and other stakeholders during incidents involving potential client asset loss.
  • Review and negotiate insurance provisions in client contracts (in coordination with legal teams).
  • Manage Certificate-of-Insurance requests and respond to general insurance inquiries from clients.
  • Coordinate insurance administration tasks, including exposure data collection, insurer submissions, budgeting, internal summaries, and broker communications.
  • Oversee client claims and loss control activities, ensuring prompt resolution and continuous improvement.
  • Represent clients in insurance markets; manage third-party vendor relationships on their behalf.

 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or a related field; ARM, CPCU, or similar certifications preferred.
  • Significant experience in risk management or insurance, particularly in a client-facing or consulting environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into action.
  • Deep understanding of insurance markets, risk financing options, and loss prevention strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present findings and recommendations to executive stakeholders.
  • Experience managing vendor and insurer relationships on behalf of clients.
  • Ability to work across multiple client accounts and balance competing priorities.
