Commercial Account Executive/ Underwriter Associate- Wholesale 

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Commercial Underwriter to join our Wholesale Brokerage team. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating, pricing, and renewing commercial insurance policies across various industries. You will work closely with brokers, carriers, and internal teams to ensure competitive and profitable renewals while maintaining strong underwriting standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate Renewal Accounts: Assess existing policies, analyze loss history, risk exposure, and coverage needs to determine appropriate renewal terms.
  • Underwriting & Risk Analysis: Apply underwriting guidelines to ensure profitable and strategic decision-making for renewal accounts.
  • Pricing & Quoting: Develop competitive renewal pricing by working with wholesale brokers and insurance carriers to secure optimal terms.
  • Carrier & Broker Collaboration: Maintain strong relationships with carriers to negotiate renewal terms and expand available markets for placement.
  • Policy Endorsements & Modifications: Assess and process policy changes, endorsements, and coverage modifications based on client needs.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure underwriting decisions adhere to company policies, industry regulations, and carrier guidelines.
  • Market & Industry Research: Stay up to date with industry trends, market conditions, and carrier appetites to make informed renewal decisions.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience: 3+ years of commercial underwriting experience, preferably in a wholesale brokerage environment.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of commercial insurance lines, risk assessment, and underwriting principles.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to evaluate risk factors, analyze data, and make sound underwriting decisions.
  • Communication & Negotiation: Excellent ability to work with brokers, carriers, and internal stakeholders to negotiate renewal terms effectively.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in underwriting systems, rating tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, insurance, or related field preferred. CPCU, AU, or other insurance designations are a plus.
