The Jonus Group is a specialized insurance staffing firm that connects top talent with industry-leading clients. We are seeking an experienced Large Contract Surety Underwriter to join our A-Rated international client’s team.

COMPENSATION:

• $150,000 - $210,000/year

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of contract surety underwriting experience, preferably with large contract accounts.
• Strong knowledge of financial analysis, credit risk assessment, and construction industry dynamics.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
• Strong decision-making skills with a results-driven approach.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Underwrite and manage a portfolio of large contract surety accounts, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.

2. Analyze financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant data to assess risk and make informed underwriting decisions.

3. Evaluate contractors’ financial strength, management capabilities, and operational history to determine surety bond eligibility.

4. Collaborate with brokers, agents, and internal stakeholders to structure competitive and profitable surety bond programs.

5. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key industry players, including brokers, agents, and construction firms.

6. Monitor market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes affecting the surety business.
