Established and growing Wholesale MGA is seeking an Underwriting assistant to join and grow with their team! 
This position supports underwriters in the assessment and processing of insurance policies, primarily within a wholesale insurance setting.
This role is critical in streamlining the underwriting process, ensuring that client applications and documentation meet the requirements for timely and accurate decision-making. 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Documentation and Data Entry

    • Prepare, review, and process insurance applications, renewals, and endorsements.
    • Enter policy and client information into the company’s system accurately and promptly.
    • Organize and maintain client files, policy documentation, and supporting materials.
  2. Underwriting Support

    • Assist underwriters by gathering relevant information for risk analysis and policy pricing.
    • Prepare quotes, proposals, and binders for review by the underwriter.
    • Assist with premium calculations, policy issuance, and other underwriting tasks.
  3. Communication and Coordination

    • Act as a point of contact between underwriters, agents, and brokers, providing updates on application statuses and gathering additional information as needed.
    • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to resolve any underwriting issues or discrepancies.
    • Ensure prompt and professional communication with clients, brokers, and carriers.
  4. Policy Renewals and Endorsements

    • Monitor renewal dates and ensure timely preparation and submission of renewal documentation.
    • Process endorsements, modifications, and cancellations in accordance with policy terms and underwriting guidelines.
  5. Compliance and Reporting

    • Ensure all documents and processes comply with regulatory and company standards.
    • Prepare and maintain underwriting reports, tracking key metrics, application statuses, and policy data for management review.
  6. Administrative Support

    • Perform various administrative tasks to support the underwriters, such as scheduling meetings, handling correspondence, and maintaining records.
    • Assist in special projects as assigned by the underwriting team or management.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience in insurance underwriting or administrative roles is beneficial, especially in a wholesale or commercial insurance environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiar with underwriting or insurance software.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze and interpret data to assist underwriters in assessing risk.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication to coordinate with brokers, agents, and internal teams.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy for data entry and reviewing application materials.
  • Organizational Skills: Effective time management and organization skills to handle multiple applications and renewals simultaneously.
