Controller
Our client, a growing insurance organization, is seeking a Controller to join their team in Little Rock, Arkansas. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Accountant, Statutory Accountant, or Assistant Controller who is ready to take the next step into a leadership role. The Controller will oversee statutory and GAAP financial reporting, manage the close process, maintain internal controls, and lead regulatory reporting initiatives while helping build and enhance the organization's accounting infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Manage statutory and GAAP financial reporting requirements.
- Lead preparation and submission of regulatory filings and financial statements.
- Monitor accounting and regulatory developments to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Develop and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Oversee account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting processes.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, actuaries, tax professionals, and regulatory agencies.
- Support system implementations, process improvements, and automation initiatives.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop accounting staff.
- Provide financial reporting and analysis to executive leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; advanced degree preferred.
- CPA, CMA, CFA, or other relevant designation strongly preferred.
- 8+ years of accounting or financial reporting experience within the insurance industry.
- At least 3 years of experience supporting statutory reporting and regulatory compliance.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP).
- Experience working with insurance accounting and reporting systems.
- Exposure to investment accounting and insurance-related financial reporting.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong systems aptitude.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to build, mentor, and develop teams.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with executives, auditors, regulators, and business partners.
