Our client, one of the largest national insurance brokerages in the U.S., is actively seeking a Senior Employee Benefits Underwriter to join their team. Below are the qualifications for this exciting opportunity:

Location: Hybrid (3 days in NYC, Berkeley Heights, NJ, Uniondale, NY, or Hauppauge, NY)
Salary: $140,000 - $150,000 plus bonus

Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Employee Benefits Underwriter with over 7 years of experience in employee benefits underwriting. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of financials, industry trends, and alternative funding models. This role will focus on analyzing and managing employee benefits underwriting processes to ensure competitive and sustainable solutions for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive underwriting assessments for employee benefits programs, ensuring alignment with financial objectives and risk management strategies.
  • Analyze financial trends and data, utilizing advanced Excel skills to produce reports and forecasts that inform underwriting decisions.
  • Evaluate pooling arrangements, stop-loss insurance, and contribution models, ensuring optimal funding strategies are implemented.
  • Engage in discussions regarding self-funding options and their implications for clients, providing expert guidance on best practices.
  • Assess network discounts and their impact on overall benefit costs, ensuring competitive pricing and value for clients.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop innovative employee benefits solutions tailored to client needs.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making processes regarding employee benefits programs.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in employee benefits underwriting.
  • Strong understanding of financials, industry trends, pooling, and stop-loss insurance.
  • Expertise in self-funding, alternative funding models, and contribution strategies.
  • Proficiency in Excel, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and generate actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Preferred location in Long Island, with availability to work in our NYC, Berkeley Heights, or Uniondale offices.
