Job Title: Insurance Accounting Specialist (Accounts Payable & Commissions)

Our client is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join their growing team. The Insurance Accounting Specialist is responsible for managing core payable and commission accounting functions across one or more agency entities. This role ensures the accurate processing of vendor payables, producer commissions, and agency bill transactions, while maintaining compliance with internal controls, carrier requirements, and audit standards. This is a senior individual-contributor role requiring strong insurance agency accounting experience, Applied Epic proficiency, and the ability to independently manage complex workflows across multiple offices or agencies. Hybrid in office 2–3 days per week 

Insurance industry and Epic experience required. You will be responsible for vendor payables, commissions, and agency payables.

Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable & Vendor Management

• Process and manage vendor invoices across multiple agencies, ensuring accuracy, proper coding, and timely payment
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies independently
• Maintain vendor records, payment schedules, and supporting documentation
• Coordinate with accounting leadership on month-end close and payable accruals

Commission Reporting & Payables

• Prepare, calculate, and process producer and agency commission statements
• Ensure commission calculations align with producer agreements and acquisition-specific arrangements
• Investigate and resolve commission discrepancies in coordination with carrier relations and accounting
• Maintain auditable commission documentation

Agency Bill Payables

• Supervise outsourced agency bill service provider for agency bill payments, including carrier and premium-related transactions
• Be able to apply and reconcile agency bill activity accurately within Applied Epic
• Assist with agency bill account reconciliations and variance resolution

Systems, Reporting & Controls

• Utilize Applied Epic for agency bill and commission workflows
• Use Ramp and related tools for payable processing (preferred)
• Generate payable, commission, and agency bill reports as needed
• Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records
• Document procedures and ensure consistent execution across agencies

Qualifications:

• Experience - 5+ years of accounting or accounts payable experience within an insurance agency or brokerage (required) - Multi-office or multi-entity agency experience (strongly preferred) - Hands-on Applied Epic experience (required)
• Education - Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field preferred - Equivalent insurance agency accounting experience may substitute for formal education
• Certifications & Systems - Applied Epic required - Ramp or similar AP automation experience preferred
• Skills & Competencies - Strong understanding of insurance commissions and agency bill workflows - High attention to detail and accuracy - Ability to work independently and resolve issues without excessive escalation - Strong Excel and accounting system proficiency - Ability to document and follow standardized processes

Compensation Package:

• Competitive salary commensurate with experience, typically $65,000–$85,000, with discretionary bonus target 5-10% of base salary

Job Summary

Our client is seeking a Carrier Payables Specialist to join their growing team. The Carrier Payables Specialist is responsible for the timely and accurate payment of Insurance carrier accounts, as well as reconciliation research and balancing of related general ledger accounts. MUST have Applied Epic experience. 

• Accurate and timely reconciliation of carrier statements and/or individual carrier invoices against EPIC invoicing
• Research discrepancies and work with internal Account Managers and/or carrier contacts to determine corrective action needed
• Process payments to Finance Companies as needed for financed policies
• Monitor the subsidiary ledger to ensure timely payments to carriers and accurate record-keeping in the agency management system
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with carrier contacts, to ensure open communication and a joint resolution process, as issues arise

Qualifications/Requirements

• 2-4 Years experience in agency accounting, with demonstrated knowledge of accounts receivable and payable
• A High School diploma required
• College-level accounting courses or equivalent experience preferred
• Must have Applied EPIC experience 
• Basic accounting knowledge of journal entries
• Strong computer skills, with a focus on the Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.) with an understanding of automated agency management systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Detail-oriented, accurate with data input, and have math skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers
• Team player and willing to find accommodating solutions for our customers, companies, and Agency
• Ability to work within a fast-paced, changing priority environment
• Self-motivated, with the initiative to prioritize and be self-directed

Compensation Package

• $60,000-$70,000
